Tough competition for personal research funding 2015

235 personal research funding applications were submitted to the Estonian Research Council for personal research funding 2015.

Personal research funding is a contribution to the costs of high-level research and development activities carried out by researchers or small research groups who are employed by a research and development institution.

Support is offered to experienced researchers to carry out innovative, ground-breaking, or high-risk research projects as well as to young researchers to develop an independent research career and establish their own research team.

The total budget of the submitted applications is 15.7 million Euros. The call budget is approximately 1.4 million Euros. Of the 235 applications, 142 are exploratory research grant applications with the total budget 9,71 million Euros, and 93 start-up research grant applictions with a budget 6,05 million Euros.

Currently, the Estonian Research Council is performing the technical check of the submitted applications. Thereafter the applications will be reviewed by external reviewers. The final funding decisions will be made in January 2015.
