Open call for Mobilitas Pluss mobility grants begins

The Estonian Research Council (ETAG) offers grants for postdoctoral researchers and researchers who have been abroad for several years to carry out their research project in Estonian R&D institutions, companies or higher education institutions. The call for Mobilitas Pluss mobility grants will be open from 1 January to 31 January 2020 at 17.00 (EET). 

The Mobilitas Pluss postdoctoral grant is aimed at the researchers who have obtained their doctoral degree abroad no more than five years prior to the closing date of the call. The returning researcher grant is for the researchers who have carried out their postdoctoral research project abroad and wish to return to Estonia.

The grant amount for experimental project is €4,500 per month and for non-experimental project €4,250 per month. The host institution’s own contribution is up to 5% of the grant. The researchers can apply for additional relocation allowance if they have not lived, worked, or studied 180 days immediately prior to the closing date of the call in Estonia. The relocation allowance is €4,000 for projects lasting under two years and €5,500 for projects lasting for two years. The grant period is 12-24 months.

Grants can be applied for via the Estonian Research Information System (www.etis.ee). The results of the call will be announced in June 2020 at the latest. The projects must start within six months after the funding decision and the researcher has to work full-time for the host institution.

In the 2020 call, approximately 20 postdoctoral researchers and 10 returning researchers will be funded.

Mobilitas Pluss grants have brought 138 researchers to Estonia

In the previous four calls, 83 researchers have received Mobilitas Pluss postdoctoral researcher grant and 55 researchers have received returning researcher grant. Most of the researchers have started their research projects in R&D institutions. Two researchers are carrying out their research projects in companies. The total amount of grants allocated by ETAG is 10.5 million euros.

The Mobilitas Pluss programme is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Estonian government.
