Estonian research in health technologies will be exhibited at Europe’s largest interdisciplinary event EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF)

ESOF will take place 23.-27. July in Manchester, United Kingdom (learn more: www.esof2016.org). Representatives of Estonian Research Council as well as experts from the field of health sciences will showcase the highlights of Estonian research.

Researchers in Estonia have reached the forefront in several fields on a global level. Health technologies have some of the highest publication rates compared to all other fields of research. Estonia is internationally well-known for it’s eHealth system, personalised medicine and cancer studies, thus we chose to show some of the highlight from the field of medicine and health technologies.

In our ESOF booth (no. F13) we will present topics like:

•    Non-invasive prenatal genetic testing (NIPT) is the latest and most precise screening method for detecting aneuploidy, and it is based on sequence analysis—second-generation sequencing of cell-free foetal DNA (cffDNA) in the mother’s blood circulation. Contact: Kaarel Krjutškov, kaarel.krjutshkov@ccht.ee
•    Genetic risk profiling and Fertify test, which uses polygenic risk scores for predicting the risk of early menopause and the concomitant earlier decrease in fertility. Contact:  Triin Laisk-Podar, triin.laisk-podar@ut.ee
•    A myometric method and a device called Myoton that provides a novel solution for obtaining unique evidence-based data on superficial skeletal muscles. Contact: Teet Meerits, teet.meerits@ut.ee
•    Implementation of personal genetic information together with automated decision support systems to help physicians and make a huge impact on disease prediction, prevention and treatment. Personalised medicine – a new, additional instrument available for physicians and health care system.

We also give the visitors an overview of Estonian research landscape and funding system, as well as study possibilities in higher education from BA studies to PhD.

Additionally we offer a chance for every visitor to measure their muscle tone with MyotonPRO device and get on-site immediate feedback from the expert with for free on site!

We invite you to take a closer look at what Estonian research has to offer and come visit us at ESOF. Furthermore keep yourself posted following our Facebook page and (https://www.facebook.com/www.researchinestonia.eu) Twitter  (https://twitter.com/researchestonia )
