Estonian Research Council supports researcher’s short term study visits to learn from ERC grant holders

Estonian Research Council (ETAG) offers opportunity for researchers who are planning to apply for ERC (European Research Council) grants to go abroad and visit researchers who have applied for aforementioned grants successfully. The aim of the visits is to learn from research teams of existing grant holders and get useful tips for completing one’s own application.

The call for applications for short term study visits opened on 26 October and will close on 25 November. Visit can last up to seven days. All expenses up to 1500 euros will be covered to the researcher’s home institution by ETAG after the trip according to the payment documents. There will be funded at least six study visits during the first call.

„Researchers who are going to the study visits should have conception for their own ERC grant proposal. They should have initial idea for the proposal and strong will to apply for the grant during the next two years, “said Margus Harak, Mobilitas Pluss consultant at ETAG.

Applications for the study visits can be submitted in Estonian Research Portal. To open the application form, it’s necessary to send the request on following e-mail address: margus.harak@etag.ee. One can always ask for help with finding the ERC grant holder to visit from one’s home institutions R&D department or ETAG. Estonian Research Council funds study visits via Mobilitas Pluss Programme and European Regional Development Fund.

Training events and grants for researchers who are writing ERC grant proposals

ERC grants are valued over the world. Grant will provide researcher with 1,5-2,5 million euros and freedom to carry out research project that interests him/her the most.

Estonian Research Council offers short term training events for researchers who are interested in writing an ERC grant proposal. Next training events will take place in spring and autumn 2017.

Researchers who have applied for ERC grant and have been asked to come to the interview, will be offered courses for interview.

ETAG will reimburse research costs for those researchers who have made it to the second stage of evaluation with their ERC grant applications but have not received affirmative funding decisions from the European Research Council. ETAG provides these researchers with the opportunity of continuing their research in Estonia and to submit a new ERC grant application from an Estonian research or development institution during the next call for proposals.

There are five researchers in Estonia who have successfully applied for ERC grants so far.
