Call for trainers: Research module of the Welcoming programme  

The Estonian Research Council (ETAG) is looking for trainers to carry out a number of research-related trainings in 2015-2016 under the Welcoming programme. The purpose of the Welcoming programme is to support the adaptation and subsequent integration of newly arrived immigrants by providing them information on the functioning of the state and society, daily life, working, studying and family matters, and by facilitating the acquisition of Estonian language skills.

The aim of the Research module of Welcoming programme is to offer a basic training course on Estonian academic culture and research organisation system. The module is meant particularly for the foreign researchers, lecturers and doctoral students relocating to Estonia. Trainings of the research module will be organised in Tallinn, Tartu and, if neccessary, in Narva twice a year — in the end of September–beginning of October and in the end of January–begining of February. Trainings will be carried out in the groups of 5 to 25 people in English and Russian languages. The duration of one training is 8 hours.

ETAG is looking for the trainers-experts in the following fields:

1 Structure of the research and higher education system, including Estonian academic landscape, institutions and their functions, ETIS and its classificators, types of academic positions and duties related, establishment of a research group etc. Person who has passed the training is familiar with how the research and higher education system is organised. Up to 2 hours, in Tallinn, Tartu and, if neccessary, in Narva 2 times a year.
2 Estonian academic networks and organisations, including Centres of Excellence,networks/organisations fostering cooperation with public sector and industry, etc. Person who has passed the training is familiar with the academic networks and organisations in Estonia. Up to 1 hour, in Tallinn, Tartu and, if neccessary, in Narva 2 times a year.
3 Teaching practices, structure of courses and grading,including teaching models and philosopgy, e-learning, ÕIS, student supervision, etc. Person who has passed the training is familiar with the general teaching practices in Estonia, with the principles of designing courses and grading systems. Up to 2 hours, in Tallinn, Tartu and, if neccessary, in Narva 2 times a year.
4 Legal information corresponding to the type of migration, including the requirements for granting or acquiring and extending residence permits and the right of residence. Person who has passed the training is familiar with the residence permit requirements of this type of migration and know where to find additional information when needed. Up to 1 hours, in Tallinn, Tartu and, if neccessary, in Narva 2 times a year.

Trainers are expected to join the pool of trainers of the research module for a year and a half, and contribute to the development of training materials of the module. The gross pay for one hour of training is 75 EUR. ETAG will conclude a contract with selected trainers for a period from 1 September 2015 to 31 December 2016. If pilot trainings show no need in further detailed discussion of one or another training topic, ETAG may terminate the respective contract prematurely. On the contrary, if a topic proves its importance, the contract may be extended until 31 December 2017.

To apply please send us your CV and the letter of motivation that describes your experience as a trainer, your competence in a particular field, and your vision of the content of your potential training part as well as the description of interactive methodology you intend to apply. If you wish to train on more than one topic (e.g. Structure of the research and higher education system and Academic networks), you should provide your vision and methodology on each of the topics separately. Additionally, please indicate whether you are willing to train in Tartu, Tallinn or in both cities. In the latter case, please explain how you ensure that your training part meets the needs and expectations of researchers and teaching staff working at different institutions.
